Alarm at high speeds

I have a 1987 75 hp 2 stroke m

I have a 1987 75 hp 2 stroke mariner outboard. I can cruise along just fine at lower rpm's but if I give it about 3/4 throttle it will beep constantly until I slow down and then maybe 30 seconds later it will shut off.What could it be?

firstly lets get some more info, is it 75xd, 75 marathon, or 75seapro, is it oil injected? you say its 1987 does it have serial number between 0A996142 and 0D283221 model?, are u running quicksilver controls or commander controls? once we have established a bit more info then we can start looking into the problem a bit better."
