"i have a 19 ft skiff with a 7

"i have a 19 ft skiff with a 75 hp mercury outboard engine. can anyone tell me where the cavitation plate should be with relation to the bottom of the boat? the cavitation plate is currently about 2 inches below the bottom of the boat, on other boats i have looked at it is even with the bottom or just above the bottom of the boat.

Normaly the cavitation

Normaly the cavitation plate is mounted even with the bottom of the boat. If it is mounted too low there will be too much drag. It can be mounted slightly above the bottom of the boat, but it can affect steering and possibly cause cavitation. Stick with being even with the bottom of the boat.
