Tilt issue when tilting down

I have 1990 200hp eveinrude .

I have 1990 200hp eveinrude . When I tilt motor down the engine starts to go down then slowly drops . When i tilt up it will stay up in any position i want . Yet if I start down can not hold weight of leg . no fluid leak ? I recently added som fluid thinking that was it . Any sugestions . Not sure if its air in cyln . how I would i remove it ?

"more than likely......it is a stiff/corroded tilt tube....while u r going down w/it,...see if the TRIM rods,start retracting...if they do BEFORE eng hits them,the usual cause is the tube,..loosen the 2 big nuts,and wd 40 the heck out of it...see if that helps.."
