Mariner 25 Help Needed

I just bought a 1994 25 hp Mar

I just bought a 1994 25 hp Mariner and found out that the propeller shaft is bent. Does anyone have one laying around or know where I can buy one? What has to be done to replace a propeller shaft?

"Shaun, maybe a little tough to find a propshaft for this motor just kinda laying around. Could have a look on Ebay, but not a common item to find in the used market.

Of course Merc sells them, but it will lighten your wallet by about 275 bucks.

To get it out you basically have to strip down your entire lower unit. Drain it, remove the prop, thrust hub, bearing carrier and seals etc - the gears will all come out as well and if the shaft is bent there is a good chance that something else could be damaged inside - count on another seal kit at minimum (a little over 70 bucks).

You CAN do this job without Merc's special tools if you take your time - but I wouldn't go near it without at least a Selocs repair manual (good enough) or a Merc service manual (better)."
