"I'm working on a '79

"I'm working on a '79 Tiara 2500 with twin 140's. Got the Port side motor running, but the starboard side motor will only run if I continuously pump the throttle. I understand that there are accelerator pumps on the carbs and this would explain how this is working. Does this mean then that I can rule out a fuel pump as being the problem? Could my problem be Main jets? carb kit? Any help would be greatly apprieciated. Motor has good compression and spark."

"Yes, it could be fouled carbs, but it could be something as simple of the idle mixture or idle speed wrongly set. Or ignition timing. Or the carbs out of sync. Or two ignition wires swapped. Or the ignition wires being faulty. Or the points being toasted. Or...quite a few other things.

As I said in my previous post, consider downloading the owner's manual for your engine, and acquiring a copy of the Seloc/Clymer repair manual."
