I have a 1980 mercury 70 hp. I

I have a 1980 mercury 70 hp. I am running 4900 rpm full throtle i don't have the specs on the motor and i need a new prop i am not sure what rpm i should be running or what factory pitch is on the prop so i can adjust it any info would be helpful

i have been there but it doesn't tell me where to start or what factory is it gives me everything from a 9 pitch to a 16 pitch i don't know where to look on the prop i have now to see what the pitch is

"Travis, the pitch is usually stamped in the prop between the (fins) - alternately, the part number will be on the hub (near the prop nut) if it's a factory propeller.

If you have the 3 cylinder model, your rpms look good with the current prop.

Your WOT for that motor is 4800-5200, and given it's the middle of summer now (which does cut back your rpms somewhat), your prop sounds perfect..."
