"In the slip in neutral, 4750, just like the specs. idles fine, starts nice, good fuel. No black exhaust, all seems to be normal. On the lake, max speed is 3500 rpm, 30 mph. usually get 50mph. Engine dies then catches at 1000 to 1400. flutters and accelerates up to 3500 then repeats. suspect fuel starvation. have changed the fuel filter water separator. next step is the carb fuel strainer. I will try the external carburetor checks in the rene batlle email that guy suggested. before I jump into the carburetor and check it for function, foreign material etc. Any things I might be missing? any thing I should do specifically while I am in the carburetor? I think I am not getting max fuel under load so I guess I have to check for foreign material, restriction, etc. the fuel pump is electric. doesn't seem to have any problems. let me know what you guys think."

Main metering jets. (36)?
I have no idea what diagram your parts numbers correspond to.
Take a look at the power valve and venturi cluster too.

Before tearing into the carb try running it on
a portable fuel tank. If it runs normally you
may need to replace the anti-siphon valve or the
pickup in the tank may be clogged. Or the vent
line from the tank may be clogged. All related to fuel starvation as load (RPM) increases.
