"I can shift from reverse to neutral good. I can not shift from forward into neutral. It just misses and the prop stays running. If I push in on the shift lever, it WILL shift into neutral from forward.
The shift rod is tight into the yoke. With the lower shift rod separated from the upper rod, there is no play in the lower unit. The lever works well on the upper unit and does not bind. Once screwed together, it will not push the lower rod far enough down into the lower end to change gears. (When they are connected,I can push the lower rod down about a 1/4" when connected and it does go into neutral.)
Is there an adjustment on the upper unit behind the exhaust cowl? Is there a coupling there that connects the rod to the shift lever and I can lower the rod a bit?
