"My alarm stays on constantly,

"My alarm stays on constantly, whether or not the engine is running. I disconnected the oil tank sensor and the alarm stopped, so I changed the sensor thinking it was bad. Alarm still sounds with new sensor, without starting engine. When I hang the tank below the engine head, alarm stops. Tank has plenty of oil and the engine starts and runs well. Any suggestions what my problem might be? I am stumped.

on some of the older systems the magnet fell off the sensor making contact with the switch. did you drain the tank and look inside

"Just adding to what JB said and when you said about hanging the tank below the head do you mean up side down? Their is a magnet float in side the tank which sends a signal to the sensor to let it know where the oil levels are.If thats the case,you need to replace the tank ,No fixen that one.Igot a 1994 60 HP mercury with the oil horn going off, it was the main harnes plug.Good luck"
