"Hello all,
I'm working on a family members 1977 Cris Craft with the Crusader ch-270. Supposedly it ran last year. This year she wont start.

I had a weak spark, now none. replaced the coil to no avail. I did read about bypassing the resistor, which I assume is the ceramic piece by the coil.
Any other magic pointers are appreciated!"
 
Did you use the correct coil?

Did you use the correct coil? If that is a ballast resistor setup (it sounds like it) then you MUST use the right coil. An ordinary 12 volt coil will not work right since the correct coil is designed for about 9 volts running (and 12 volts starting).

"Im now realizing someone put in a GM 350? the trans still has the Crusader label between the engine and trans. Still not getting spark, but I think im gettin closer. It has a Mallory distributor in it. I may replace the capacatior tomorrow."
