1968 Evinrude 55hp rectifier wiring

I just ordered a new rectifier

I just ordered a new rectifier for the motor but I was wondering about the wiring as it has all been spliced the original connectors are no longer in place I need to know does it make a difference if I get the two yellow wires flipped around? the ones coming from the stator? looks like from the original one was yellow and one was yellow/blue
 
Those 2 yellow wires provide A

Those 2 yellow wires provide AC to the rectifier. It won't hurt a thing if they are reversed at the rectifier.
 
You may even find the new rect

You may even find the new rectifier just has two pain yellow wires.

Make sure when you reconnect your battery you dont get those wires swapped or you will blow your new rectifier in an instant!
 
just thought I would let you k

just thought I would let you know I got the rectifier wired on and tried it out was getting between 16 and 18 volts on my voltmeter I quickly rewired it switching the two yellow wires around and was getting between 12-13 volts not sure why but it did make a difference
