"Have an old gale buccaneer, it starts o.k but after 5 or so seconds it starts popping and then dies. I had the carb off it looks clean, but the gasket seal may be broken. Can any one give us a few tips. Thanks, new to the game."

The carburetor is basically the same as a Evinrude/Johnson. NAPA may have a carburetor kit for it.
