How to get rid of corrossion on thruhulls

Is there a chemical that will

Is there a chemical that will remove corrossion from my thru-hull fittings? Most are green and look rough. Some are difficult to get too with a wire brush. My grounding system for these are not in good shape. Is that what causes it thru electrolysis? I can hear little ticks when at the dock and everything is quiet. Is this active electrolysis at work that can be heard?

Damn straight! Replace or add some zincs.
