"1980's Suzuki DT50 not getting a spark after overheating and dying on first trip out.

Thought it was Cylinder head so replaced cylinder head gasket, replaced impeller and found washer in waterway (cause of overheat) and put in new plugs.

Put engine back on boat and it's getting fuel to plugs but no spark.

Assumption says it's either CDI Unit, 3 way rectifier, coil packs or the wiring?

Anything else that it could be, what is most likely to have been damaged by overheating? Where's best to get these parts in UK?

Anyone got any of these parts?

"Right, got it started today, it was a problem with the kill swith, all sorted and she fired into life!

Only problem is it's not pumping any water at all, just exhaust gas from the tell tale. The impeller was replaced and the impeller housing was sealed.

However when we had the engine off the exhaust gasket was overly worn and we struggled to get a replacement so instead of replacing the gasket we used gasket sealant instead. Could this be the problem?

Do you think that some gasket sealant could have blocked a waterway? Do you know of anywhere in uk that stock the gasket?

Any help much appreciated.

Bob."

If the impeller is in good condition what else could cause a blockage or stop water being pumped?

Can the impeller go the wrong way round/

"Also, the water intake grills are missing, do these parts help create any form of vacuum?"
