"I have been looking at rescuing a boat with twin Detroit 6-53 diesels, and have been trying to find out more about these engines.

It's now looking like I won't end up getting this boat after all, but I am still curious. Is this engine a 2 -stroke?

Hello I have just bought an ol

Hello I have just bought an old 35ft cruiser with a V6 53 series 2 stroke GM diesel . I have the manual but cant seem to find the horsepower rating of the engine . all I can see is that it is 318 cu inch . The person I bought it from says it is 250 hp but another source seems to think it is 180 hp . I have been told it has a blower but is naturally aspirated .
My main concern is fuel usage . If I stick to low revs say 1200rpm should she be fairly economical but will I do the engine any harm ???

Any info will be appreciated .

I THINK THE LOW,ES YOU WANT TO RUN ENGINES AT WHOULD BE 1500 RPMS.FUEL-GAL/HR AT 1500 IS 7 GALS PER ENGINE"
