"Background: VRO has been disconnected for years and I'm using the 50:1 fuel/oil ratio. Alarm buzzer (steady sound) rings after exceeding 3500 rpm. Water pumps replaced at end of last season, less than 20hrs on pump. Engine ran fine at idle and at slow speeds for more than half hour without the alarm going off. Water stream (discharge) is constant at all speeds, no temp gauge on boat(but pressure guage shows increased pressure as RPM goes up. Any ideas what the problem may be? Last week I replaced the fuel pump and reconnected all hoses as with previous set up. Can the problem be a faulty thermostat ? Did the fuel pump replacement have anything to do with it, maybe a loose connection or hose ?"
