"If not one thing, another, huh?
All done with the winter work on the boat, incluning cleaning all electrical on the mercruiser trim pump assembly.
At the controls, I can raise, but not lower, and no trim in either direction.
When I cross the solenoids, everything works.
Are these solenoids generic? I can't seem to locate just the trim assembly solenoids on line anywhere (unless someone has a part #), but it's configuration looks like my slave solenoid for my starter - would those work as replacements?
Thanks."

"Same problem last year, picked up replacement solonoids at a marina for $13.00 ea. Buy a spare, the working one will probably be next. Bring the old one and they'll match it up."

"Mike, There are only a few different type of solenoids made for auto and marine use. The trim pump could easily use a solenoid similar(in appearance) to your slave solenoid. I think the Mercruiser price was about the same as the aftermarket price. I would use only marine solenoids. They are stainless steel and sparkproof, both of which are important."
