I know the user guide recomend

I know the user guide recomends there own brand of synthetic oil for my Johnson 115

Is Mobil 1 acceptable and what viscosity

I've been using 5W-30 plus a dash of a Lucas additive in everything I own that has a spark plug............for the past 5yrs. and everything from 6.8L-V10 down to 4hp Suzy ob. all seem to thrive on it"

"Not OK if you are talking about a 2 stroke. If a four stroke, I would be careful since Mobil 1 is pretty thin stuff. Outboards (and inboards) face much higher loads than a comparable automobile engine. I'm sure the additive pack is totally different."

"I know marine engines are a bit differnet than car engines but racing cars including the Covetter recomedend Mobil 1, the 24 hrs Le Mans can you get any tougher than that? The Johnson 115 is a 4 stroke, the manual calls for a synthetic blend. I am still on the fence,"
