"Took my boat out the other day for the first time, it has a 1987 Johnson 150 VRO outboard.
With the remote unit, it seems I have to push the lever a long way forward or backward before it starts affecting the revs. The power then seems to come all at once - is this usual?
Also, when I give the engine a blip using the fast idle lever on the remote unit, the engine revs don't rise very quickly and it doesn't rev past 2000 RPM. Should the engine feel quite snappy when revved in this way, and would you expect more than 2000 RPM when the fast idle lever is fully open?
Thanks."
