Need Recommendations on what size HP Motor to buy for Pontoon Boat

"I just recently purchased an early 1970's 18 ft. Pontoon boat that I am fixing up. The boat came with johnson control box and cables but no motor. Can any recommend to me what size outboard motor would be adequate for this size boat? I cannot find a brand name on the boat itself anywhere.

"the 40-50 hp twin cylinder Johnson/Evinrudes also run well with pontoon boats. An 18 ft is on the small end of the pontoon boat spectrum. You'll get good performance with either, the 70 will just be faster.
