M360 starts idles then breaks down as it warms

"i replaced 3 freeze plugs. now the motor starts fine but as it warms it runs rough then quits. It ran fine for the first 2 hours after the freeze plugs, then I heard a metallic crack and the rough running / quit running began."
 
OK.. no load comp test showed

the motor idled for a half hour with no sign of breaking down...

Note: I had to recharge the batteries before starting... all 3 were discharged to 3.5v I remember the voltmeter on the motor going wacky about the same time as the breaking down
