"Took out my new (to me)boat with a 120hp Force outboard yesterday. Before purchase, had it inspected and marine dealer rebuilt carbs and fuel pump and put in new fuel filter. Started up fine, and idled away from dock for about 3-5 minutes. When we powered up, not enough to get it up on plane. Idled back down, then tried again - same result. As a hunch, went back and squeezed fuel bulb again. Got up on plane no problem. Ran well. then, when idled down again, motor started dying. Pumped bulb again, and went to high speed. Same situation continued as I tried it over the next hour. Ran well, but would only idle 3-5 minutes before dying out.
Engine has less than 100 hours on it; had sat for 4 years before I purchased boat/engine.
Any ideas out there to help educate me a little more before I bring back into marine dealer?
