"Anyone out there using the new Power Tech props with the metal and plastic bushing.
The reasoning is that it is better to have the plastic bushing fail when hitting something instead of transferring the impact upwards to the lower unit.
I pulverized the plastic bushing after one hour of use. Had to take the prop out and re-bush it with an extra one I had 14 miles out at sea.
The replacement has not failed as of yet, but my confidence on this system is understandably low.
The distributor says the bushing is made for a 350 hp engine, and has no idea why it failed without hitting anything on a 200 engine.
That slipage sound and loss of speed is a feeling I'd rather not have again, and less so with my family onboard!
Any experiences out there?"
