"I have a 1975 Evinrude 85 hp
"I have a 1975 Evinrude 85 hp V-4 outboard that I need to remove the lower unit on (to replace the impeller). This one is not like other mechanical shift V-4 motors I have worked on in that normally there is a screw located under the carbs that runs threw the shift shaft , that when removed allows you to release the shift shaft so the lower unit can be removed. This one instead has what looks like a pin with "rolled over" sides ( like a semi permanant installation) that goes threw the shift shaft, it does not look like it is meant to be removed (not to mention it would be near impossible to do!). What gives? is there a coupler like on older OMC's? Thanks for any help !."
