"Been chasing this problem for awhile. Motor starts and runs fine, revs just fine, put it in gear and it takes a long time to get going, when it finally does get on plane it is down on rpms and power and it misses in reverse, meaning it hits every couple of seconds for just a split second like a bad plug or wire. I have changed plugs, coils, power packs, timer base, rebuilt fuel pump and carbs, also replaced fuel lines and primer bulbs. plenty of fuel getting to carbs and strong spark on all 4. Noticed yesterday that charging system was down 12.0 volts. Could stator short to wiring harness or timer base cause this?"
