"I am looking for some old (antique) inboard engine for my client. He is restorating an old wooden boat and wants the engine to be vintage too. It has to 40-75HP and about 3ft long. Spare parts must be awailable later on. I have absolutely no idea what to look for, maybe someone will be nice enough and point me to right direction here? Manufacturer is irrelevant. Thanks in advance, if you have time for this."

"Vesa,

You are probably goi

"Vesa,

You are probably going to have to give us more information than that.

You might start by trying to find out what engine the boat originally had. You also haven't said when the boat was built... 1900 or 1960... either could be considered vintage...

You also have to consider gas or diesel. Also Horsepower doesn't mean much unless you know what type of boat and service it is being used for. Desired speed, diameter and pitch of propeller, etc.

Post some more info if you can.

If the engine is pre-1940 to 1950 you might try the board on our other site, OldMarineEngine.com , it is focused on pre-1940 style gas or diesel inboards."
