"I believe it can because there is only one oil seal on tha shaft but it's to keep the oil in the drive and there is no seal to keep water out because there isn't supposed to be water in there unlike down on the prop shaft they put 2 seals back to back, one to keep the oil in and one to keep the water out."

"If there is water in there from a leaky bellows then you want to be checking those u-joints real good as well as spinning the gimbal bearing for roughness, no sense in pulling the drive again later when they go."
