I just bought my first jet boat. A 2001 U-185 Mercury 200. 1 owener with 15hours on the smart tach gauge. Its like new. Anyway Because of lack of use it is extremly hard to shift forward to reverse. I asumed it would be a shift cable. took out the shifter disconected the cables. and it still was stiff. took apart the shifter and all the lube inside turned hard. relube and that was fine. checked the cables throttle move perfect. gear dosent budge. disconected gear cable from reverse gate cable is fine. reveverse gat is hard to move by hand let alone through a cable.
MY QUESTION
what is the correct way to remove the reverse gate? do you pop out the pins that block the bolts? or is there a special way to do it. I dont want to ruin any thing.
