"Hey yall, my name is Jake. I'm an MK3 soon to be MK2 in the US Coast Guard. In about 2 years I may be going civilian, and I was hoping to start my own marine repair business on my home island in Hawaii. What I need to know is what education do I have to have to become a successful Marine Mechanic? More specifically what schools would get me the certification and more importantly experience that i need to do this? I'm talking Diesel Inboards, Gas Inboards, Gas Outboards, hydraulics, the whole 9 yards. If it makes a boat run and turn I want to know how to fix it.

My email address is [email protected]

I love my job in the CG and would like to continue it outside of a military environment. Any help would be more than appreciated.

Very Respectfully,
JAKE"
