Default We have a Modern Wheel Drive G

We have a Modern Wheel Drive Gear Box. The Gear #is A.15002/2 stbd; Gear Type 'R'; Size 4A; 1600 BHP; 900RPM; The Company Modern Wheel Drive is no longer in business. The buyers of the Company do not want to discuss gear boxes. We require such technical information as thrust pad clearences. Can anyone advise as to where such information can be obtained?

I was chief project engineer with MWD from 1966 - 75.

The thrust bearing that your G/box includes was almost certainly supplied by Michell Bearings Ltd of Newcastle, UK and they can give you the clearances etc.

MWD is absorbed by David Brown Gears (he of Aston Martin 'DB' fame) and although they probably know very little about your gearbox they should have all the original specs
