" I have a 81 Model Johnson 11

" I have a 81 Model Johnson 115hp Motor on a 79 Dawson Hull. Some how, the piston that's in the lower right side (from the back) lost a ring and wreaked havoc. The cylinder wall seems to be fine, might need to be honed. My question is if it's possible to leave the block on the Motor housing ( I guess you would call it that) and can the carbs, intake and such be removed so that we can unbolt piston rod and slide it out the other side?

Unfortunately we have had this motor rebuilt about 2 or 3 times, and we seem to get the shaft every time because the local mechanics around town (which there are only about 5 - 10) are all crooks. "

"Charles.... Sorry to say, you

"Charles.... Sorry to say, you can't do that. The powerhead must be removed from the adapter plate (what it bolts to), then torn completely down in order to remove even one piston. I'm curious as to where you're located.
