"I am looking at a mariner 1992 40hp 2 stroke as a possible purchase. Engine is reasonable price cos oil pump has been removed and so"converted" to premix. Anyone know if it will work ok as premix. Is the oil pump an auto lube system for main bearing and big end bearing or is it simply a oil metering system with all lubrication as per a regular premix two stroke. Pump was removed to save cost of replacement after pump failure, new piston fitted. Any ideas from you experts out there much appreciated."
