I am replacing a 35 year old amp meter gauge on my lund 315 dlx which has rusted solid. Instead of going back with an amp meter - could I go back with a volt meter? Volts ought to still tell me if my generator is doing its job by measuring the charge of the battery - just like in an auto - is this right? Thoughts?

if you hook it into battey pow

if you hook it into battey power should work okwould tell battery condition

"A volt meter will in general

"A volt meter will in general tell You more than an AMP meter.
With ign 'ON" the volt should read 12.8 on a fully charged lead/acid battery. Charge voltage should not be above 15.2 Volts, but will often read between 13,5 to 14,8 depending on engine rpm."

"Thanks gents,
I am glad you

"Thanks gents,
I am glad you fellas agree. I think that's great that you can interpret real-time battery voltage to check your generator charging condition (and safety). Morten, thank you very much also for translating the safe operating levels.
