I have an 85 Bayliner Capri. The engine is an AQ125B. Im not sure what the outdrive is but when i let the trim all the way down and try and raise it back up it catches. The trim rod has a hole in the end of it that looks like it is threaded and the little plunger goes up inside the rod to release the lock down thing and it catches and wont let it come up. What is suppose to be in the end of that shaft?

Good question. I have a 83 Bayliner with a 280 outdrive. It wouldn't come up after being put down eather. We had to release the lock then the motor lifted and lowered the drive O.K. There is a Push rod that releases the Lock but I don't know what pushes the PUSH ROD! Any help?

"Gents:

1) There is an adjustment for the release pawl mechanism. Seloc an Clymer manuals describe it in detail. Alternatively, check this manual online:

2) Your outdrives likely do have "electric power tilt" but no "power trim". If you try to use the mechanical lifting device to trim the outdrive and give throttle to the engine in that condition, you will ruin the lifting device and they are not cheap to replace."

"Fixit, your engine likely came packaged with a 270D outdrive. Go to this link

http://www.volvo.com/volvopenta/global/en-gb/marine_leisure_engines/engines/out_ of_production_engines/out_of_production_engines.htm

and under "engine type" write AQ125B, then download the operator's manual and the product bulletin. Then you will know what you have and what basic maintenance you need to do.

Regarding propellers at a reasonable price, first you have to find the type of propeller you need (diameter, pitch, length of hub), then you have to decide if you want used or new props. For used props, you can try e-bay or a VP boneyard or a propeller shop. For new ones, basically every marine shop can get you one.

Here is a link to the Michigan Wheel catalog to help you in your search. Look at page 52 of 90.
