"When I try to remove the drive shaft bearing plate from the lower unit, it acts as if their is a spring pulling it back down. I can get it to move about a 1/2" but don't want to force it (not knowing what's holding it).
Secondly, I tried to shift gears (hoping this may free up the bearing plate) and pulled the clutch rod out of the ball socket. Are their any special tricks to getting it back in once I get the bearing plate off?
