86 force 125hp

"I have a 1986 125hp force and

"I have a 1986 125hp force and it is having problems idling. the first time it will crank right up and idle for 10 seconds and then die. it will not idle after that, but i can turn the key and wait till it wants to crank up and put it in gear and it will run. Is it the carb or what? also, the last time I took it out, it would plain off with me and another person but with anymore weight it doesn't have anough power...what seems to be the problem? thanks"

"Sounds like the low speed jets in one or more of the carbs might be clogged.

Alternately, how old are the spark plugs? how old is the gas? Crud in the gas tank? old fuel line? air leak in the line? clogged fuel filter? defective tank vent or pick-up? Does pumping the bulb on the fuel line keep it running (bad fuel pump)?

Could be a combination of all of the above.

If the plugs are older than "last year" change them. Then start at the tank (actually right inside of it) and work your way back to the motor. Repair or replace anything that doesn't look right."
