"I'm replacing the impello

"I'm replacing the impellor on my 25hp merc. Does anyone know in which direction the tabs, blades, fingers or what ever you call them,should go? It seems I have to bend them a little to get them into the housing. Also I'm only replacing the impellor and nothing else, because the boat place said I really didn't need to replace anything else. Should I? Thanks"
 
You do not put the impeller in

You do not put the impeller in the housing! You put the impeller on the shaft and make sure the drive key is engaged. You then lower the housing on to the impeller and rotate the shaft in the same direction as when the engine runs.Install the bolts and go.
