2005 johnson outboard wont run when in gear

I have a 2005 tiller model 25h

I have a 2005 tiller model 25hp johnson outboard with electric start. It starts and runs fine in neutral but as soon as I put it in gear and put a load on it it misses out terribly. Put it back in neutral and it idles fine. Anyone have any ideas what would cause this? Thanks for any help. Randy

if u have a compression tester,spark tester,ohmeter,and the time...we could continue
spark test
comp test
ignition component tests
carb clean/rebuild
etc....etc...."
