Trying to get the flywheel off

Trying to get the flywheel off a 1985 85 hp. Have cranked as hard as I dare on the puller but still not loose. Am a bit afraid to use a torch with all the electronics under the flywheel.

Can I tap up on the flywheel from the edges or is this going to bend the flywheel? How much cranking will the bolt threads in the flywheel take? Have also been told to take a hammer to the top of the puller center bolt but wonder what this might do to the crankshaft.

Thanks

Don't tap or hammer on tha

Don't tap or hammer on that flywheel! Don't use a torch!
Back off the nut to the top of the crank threads.
Use a quality 3 jaw puller bolted to the holes in the flywheel. Make sure you have your grade 8 bolts engaged deep enough (1.5 x the bolt diameter minimum)in the flywheel and tightened even. Apply removal pressure with the puller center bolt. Make sure the puller bolt is perpendicular to the flywheel from any side view. Smack the puller bolt square and sharply with a 2-3 pound brass hammer.
It may take several smacks as they are not lubricated when installed.
Be patient.
Good luck!
