I am getting ready to tear int

I am getting ready to tear into my '55 10hp Johnson. When I look at the male connector on the engine the ends seem plugged. Should there be an opening in the ends of the air and fuel sides? Or is there a valve that opens when the line is connected. I don't want to start poking at it until I am sure.

Yes that is a HUGE help!! The

Yes that is a HUGE help!! The holes are on the bottom!!! All the help is very much appreciated. I will call again when needed!!
