"Hello,
I just bought a used Sears Gamefisher 3.5 hp motor. It runs great. I don't have the serial number at hand right now but just wanted to ask a general question, I'll get that info if it is needed. It is an aircooled motor, starts on first or second pull, sounds solid. My question is specifically what kind of oil to mix with the gas. I've seen elsewhere not to use the usual marine oil, but 2 cycle as used in lawn mowers, etc. Is this across the board for all aircooled outboards? I would imagine I would have to get the serial # to get the specific model to determine oil to gas ratio? Thanks for your help..."

"Charles, if it is definately

"Charles, if it is definately air-cooled then yes, you want to run normal 2 cycle small engine oil and not Marine TCW-3 oil.

TCW-3 burns up at a lower tempurature (water cooled) than what is used on air cooled motors. Air-cooled runs hotter so the oil has to last longer before it burns up or you will toast the motor.

Regular unleaded gas mixed at 24:1 with 2 cycle oil will work fine for you...."
