"I have 1999 90hp honda,when running wot about 5 minutes red alarm comes onengine shuts down to idle i canget right back on wot in secounds but in about same time will shut down.can back off throtle will run all day fine.I changed impeller thermostat cleaned on bottom side where water line goes in a pressure regulated spring thats what it looked to me,was told to take thermostat out leave thermostat cover off and run in tub of water at high rpm for a little bit to clean out any build up in ports.After putting back together pea stream still seems to not be as strong as once was and seems to fluctuate, any advice on what might be going on would be great."

"Im not sure where poppet valves are,but I cleaned something that one time that had I believe a five maybe four star black double sided with aspring on one side it went through a rubber seal,not real sure thats what a poppet valve is .thanks for advice,will look into poppet valves."
 
honda calls it a pressure reli

honda calls it a pressure relief valve
i would replace the spring and gaskets

the thing u cleaned is the water pressure valve for the flush hose
