88 evinrude 140 interchange with 83 evinrude 115

I have been following now for

I have been following now for many months because my engine went bad. I have not seen many post like this. Can the lower unit and other parts be exchanged. I lost a cylinder on the 83 and I would like to drop in the 88 and keep the 83 for parts? Thanks ( hopefully on the water by spring! )

"Kevin --- the 88 140hp and the 83- 115hp are totally, totally different engines. The lower units are about the only thing that might interchange.Check the BRP parts catalog to check the parts for yourself."
