"I have a model 1185, 1968, 5hp Eska outboard. The motor starts fine, but as soon as it warms up it dies and will not start. Replaced coil, condenser and points. Compression is 40lbs. any ideas?"

"When it dies (warm/hot) have you checked for spark?

Your compression sounds quite low, but that could simply be your gauge.

You need to determine what is going wrong when the motor warms up. Losing spark on a warm/hot motor usually indicates either a bad connection or a bad stator/coil etc (that loses continuity as the copper expands with the heat). With the new parts that you have installed, it would narrow it down to what is left."
