"Hi, Greetings from Australia.

I have a 2004 5.0 liter Volvo Penta Gxi with fresh water cooling (heat exchanger). It is in a Mustang 2800 Sportscruiser and has done about 150hrs.

The motor starts and runs fine 90% of the time but occasionally I have to use the 'flooded motor drill' to start it - when I do this it starts fine everytime. The flooded motor drill is start up with the throttle wide open and then backed off to idle when it kicks. When I do this it runs rough for a few seconds and then runs fine. It never floods or fails to start when it's been sitting in the shed for a couple of weeks its always after its been on the water for a day or so.

I am only assuming flooding is the problem because the drill gets the engine going plus there is usually a slight fuel smell."

Is this the usual cause of &#3

Is this the usual cause of 'flooding' in fuel injected engines? I realise that there are probably others but is the most common reason?
