Hi we are new owners of an outboard and dont know how to prperly check that the water pump is working effectively we have an owners manual but it doesn't seem to be in there we have been told that a stream of water should be coming out but don't know from where? Any info would be appriciated

There so be a small plastic circular hole at the rear of the outboard normally on the right hand side looking at the outboard from the rear of the boat. Never run the motor without a flush kit or in water as this can overheat the motor and damage the pump impellor. The only non technical way to test this is when the motor is cold put you finger in the stream - it should feel "Hard". You can take the engine cover off and there should be a plastic hose from the top left of the engine (pump) going down to to the bottom right. Hope this helps. Cheers
