1989 43 OMC Cobra More power needed Please Help

I have a 17.5 foot 1989 Fiberk

I have a 17.5 foot 1989 Fiberking Commander with a 4.3 OMC Cobra. It has 175 hp. I would like to increase hp and torque. I would like to get hp to around 250. All help is greatly appreciated.

"The easiest way to get to 250 hp is upgrade to a 5.7. You can swap out the carb and manifold to a 4 bbl set-up.. This will put you at about 200. Other than that, there's not much else you can do economically and if you're willing to drop some real $$$, you might as well go with the V/8.

200 hp should put that boat at near 50 mph. What exactly were you looking for?"

There is not enough room for a V/8. The boat does 53 with a 21 pitch prop. I'm looking for 60 to 65 mph.

Ayuh,..... That Ain't gonna Happen,...... Period....

You'd need to Double your available horsepower to get to 60/ 65mph.....

If that 175hp has a 2bbl. Carb,.....
Going to a 4bbl. Carb will net you about 20/ 30hp.....

That Might get you another mph or 2........"

"my other boat is a bayliner 1750 close to what u have with a older 250 mariner outboard 50+, to hit 60-65 with this boat I would need twin 250s to see that kind of speed. With out some big power 450-500hp min your never going to see 60-65mph."
