I have a 40 4-stroke that on t

I have a 40 4-stroke that on the trailer acts as if it is going to die when you increase idle to 1500 or more then drop to idle at 950. It will do this at first start up or after it heats up. It has about 5 hours on it.

I just bought it and have request warranty transfer from Mercury but have not seen it yet.Thanks for your words of wisdom. That is what I will do!

"Duke, that is the best thing to do. The Mercury 4 strokes are still a "relatively new" motor to this forum and most of us (backyard mechanics) haven't had alot to do with them.

In any case, if a motor is under warranty, best to let the experts work on (and the company pay for) any items that may be defective."
