"Hi folks i have a 25hp outboard which i need to find out make,model and year so i can purchase some spare parts.Numbers on plate are 25ML & 895L 318282.Engine has been repainted before i purchased along with boat,looks like dark grey originaly.Had a look at engine and most of the components has the yamaha logo on them but no sites tie up engine number to a yamaha motor ?"
 
Are you sure the second number

Are you sure the second number set on the plate isn't 695L318282 or 695-318282 ? Sounds like a Mariner number to me... around 1987.

I HAVE A 5 HP OTASCO ENGINE WITH 190619 STAMPED ON A PLATE RIVETED TO THE FRAME UNDER THE ENGINE AND T-643-05
5928184 IS PRINTED ON A TAG THAT IS BOLTED TO THE ENGINE. WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS WHO MADE THESE ENGINES FOR OTASCO AND WHERE TO GET A SERVICE MANUAL.
