What year is my motor

I recently bought a merc 200 20 hp outboard motor. The serial number that is on the mounting bracket is 2658220 but every search I've done says it's not a valid number. Any ideas?

Hey new to outboard motors trying to find what year it is so I can get some parts, i have two motors
serial number 1621922
and number 2017305
any help would be appreciated thanks

Your serial number shows your model number to be 7005205 which makes the engine out to be a 1985 short shaft.

Re: What year is my Mercury Thunde

Cheers, Jun

So I have been trying to figure out what the model is for my motor because I'm looking to get it fixed. It is a mercury 50 with the blue stripe on it with a serial number of 6308241. Any help would be appreciated. It's on a 1986 (from what I was told) bass tracker. Figured the motor was about that old.

What year would it be?? Anyone??
Hi there, for us here in the U.S.A, typically the Belgium engine models/years are much harder to pinpoint accurately vs engines made here in the US.

Being that another member just posted a photo of a owners manual with the engine information on it saying the engine was built in Belgium, his serial number seemed kind of close to yours and his was a 1982 but his was a 20 HP...His info will be quoted and linked below just for reference if interested.

Know that your 934xxxx is pretty close to (but higher than) his 933xxxx number, should put your engine right around 1983 to maybe 1984 at the very latest.
This info is sort of backed up by the following links as while yours and his numbers aren't actually listed in a serial number ranges given, They both are between a year gap of 1981 to 1985.
Remember to bear in mind that the serial number in the charts has to start with a 9 being a Belgium engine. And the number ranges that have/start with an (A) don't count as being an in between number range for the Belgium engines such as a 50 HP S/N 6586624 - A912477 = 1985 for example.

Here's your serial number list, http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/page/609764
And here is vampos for comparison, http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/page/609739

HI all,

Can someone help me:

Marine Power Europe

B4822 Verviers
made in Belgium, appreciate the help.

hi All,

finally I have received a book for my engine and now everything is clear: View attachment 13295

but the question is what kind of engine is in that service manual: http://************/lib/mercury/manuals/mercury_1965-1989_2-40.html#/474
i need to know everything about carb and rest of construction. I don't see there 20HP from that year of production :)
Post # 9 and 16 for vampos quotes above should the photo of the owners manual not work/be seen above, http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/showthread.php?383700-what-year-and-hp&p=534776#post534776

(U) 4576237 and Above (A) 8042650 and Above (B) 9136250 and Above (C) 7088598 and Above
(U) 4571652 thru 6428681 (A) 8042350 thru 8074512 (B) 913582 thru 9392276 (C) 7087823 thru 7208333

Hope this helps, good luck.

Hey guys just picked up a Mariner Nine Nine 9.9 2 stroke. Serial # is 0D052606. Could anybody tell me the year? Thanks in advance.

Yamaha built Mariner (built for Merc and marketed by Merc) - but 100% Yamaha - usually a carbon copy of a model they had discontinued themselves.

Anyhow:

695 is the Yami designator for a 1979 Yamaha model "25D" - which this motor is "mechanically identical" to.

S - "standard" or short shaft (designed for a 15" transom)

030682 - actual serial number, so sold as a 1986 Mariner model "25C" (on Merc parts lists).

Are we going back in time, please send me back to highschool! Talk about highjacking that one took the icing & the candles!
